Book Discussion Group – Susie Riggs
The Book Discussion Group met on Friday, June 16. Our reading selections for the month were: A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler and The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Septys. Both novels, while set in completely different time periods and circumstances, involved love stories set amidst the shadows of pain and suffering. After a thought-provoking discussion, both books were given high ratings by our members.
Our next meeting will be held on Friday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. in the large room of the POA clubhouse. We will be discussing two books: The Doctors Blackwell by Janice P. Nimura and The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki.
Quilting Group – Gloria Gustavson
The quilters group is taking the summer off. We will resume again in September and extend an invitation to quilters to join us on the Second and Fourth Fridays of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the POA clubhouse. We have on-going charity projects and our individual projects that we work on. All are welcome. Need more information: give me a call at 910-297-0066.
Care Team – Flo Pflaster
Care Team Volunteers
I would like to update this list. As of now, there are 59 people who had let me know they would be available to help with neighbors’ needs at times. I get few responses, mostly from the same 3-4 people. So, if you no longer wish to be on this list, please text me at 910-368-1070 or email me at dfp324@atmc.net
If you would like to stay on this list and would prefer to get notifications by email instead of through Nextdoor, please email me at dfp324@atmc.net and I will send out a group email when someone needs help in our community.
If you need help, please continue to let me know by calling the above number or my home at 910-575-6243.
Flo Pflaster
We have many volunteers on the Care Team, ready and willing to help our neighbors with temporary assistance. I will do whatever I can to find someone to help - all you need to do is call or email me!
Thank you,
